Reservoir Engineer, Modeler

Position Summary

This position is responsible for conducting Reservoir Engineering studies to support world-class exploration, development and operations of geothermal resources globally. An individual in this role will work in a world-class collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment.

Essential Functions

Maintains a safe work place and takes responsibility for safety with the goal of zero incidents

Prepares technical insights in a suitable communication method such as reports and presentations with accurate use of company tools, templates and standards

Manages data and information in a manner that is consistent with company systems and processes

Develops and updates numerical reservoir models for operating and prospective fields

Reviews the technical results of the reservoir modeling and reservoir engineering teams

Analyzes reservoir data, well logs and well tests and develops reservoir conceptual models

Evaluates reservoir performance and identifies problems and opportunities for improvements

Analyzes and prepares reports on reservoir performance data for design and optimization of power plants

Evaluates effects of corrective actions or changes in field operations, power generation revenue and long-term resource performance

Analyzes performance of production and injection wells, diagnoses problems or opportunities, plans course of action and assists with execution of the work

Works with Geologists, Project Managers and operations personnel to formulate and justify recommendations for reservoir management and wellfield activities

Responsible for planning and specifying well tests, logs and diagnostic procedures

Responsible for the engineering field supervision of well tests and analysis of well tests results

Responsible for the planning, engineering, supervision, analysis and reporting of routine well logs and pressure tests

Documents analyses, interpretations of logs, well tests, diagnostic procedures and results of work overs, drilling and other changes in operations

Works with plant, field operations and IT personnel to maintain the quality and completeness of data base and operating records

Prepares reports with supporting data and recommendations for action

Provides pertinent data and analyses to consultants and incorporates their results

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

Must possess Master of Science or Engineering in a relevant subject. A Doctorate degree in a relevant subject is advantageous.

Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and use of the Internet.

Proficiency in technical specialist applications including, but not limited to, Volsung, TOUGH, TETRAD, CMG or others is required.

Proficiency in well testing, well test analysis, conceptual modeling and wellbore simulation is required.

Proficiency in Matlab and Python programming is preferred.

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to safely and efficiently perform the job duties. Proficiency in other languages is advantageous, especially in Spanish and Bahasa (Indonesia).

Ability to prioritize and plan work activities so time is used efficiently and effectively

Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure quality performance

Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Ormat’s auto insurance carrier

Physical Requirements

The ability to work in an office environment and to work at a computer, and computer monitor, and use repetitive motion for long periods of time

The ability to work in a power plant and wellfield near hot pipes, drilling rigs and heavy equipment

The ability to navigate and work in remote field locations and work outdoors in difficult weather conditions

The ability to safely operate 4WD light vehicles on highways and off-road safely

The ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment

The ability to periodically lift up to 25 lbs

The ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including internationally
