Director, Finance & Central Support  

 

Position Summary

The Director, Finance & Central Support manages the Asset Management team and performs a wide variety of tasks related to the planning, developing and reporting of Ormat’s revenues and expenses.

Essential Functions

  • Manage reporting to investors and government agencies (DOE, MMS, FERC, CEC).
  • Develop and maintain discounted cash flow models, operating cost models and royalty accounting models.
  • Develop and maintain long term financial models, responsible for 3-to-5-year forecasting of revenues streams.
  • Perform and manage royalty true-ups, reconciliations, and other compliance functions.
  • Administer operation finance components of internal and external audits. Regularly represent Ormat to various auditing entities including regulatory agencies, SOX consultants, and financial auditors.
  • Certify and verify monthly revenues and royalty payments.
  • Prepare and update forecast of energy and capacity rate changes and communicate changes to Plant Managers.
  • Review and approve monthly and quarterly revenue analyses per SOX procedures.
  • Revenue and cost forecasting, budget vs actual analysis and year over year analysis.
  • Contract management and invoicing
  • Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) management and reporting and verifying accuracy of annual compliance report.
  • Review and analyze budget vs. actual for department and project spending.
  • · Regular reporting of budget status, and analysis, to department leadership (VPs, Directors,
  • Managers)
  • Create/input, maintain, update and analyze all Resource related budgets and templates within the
  • company’s accounting software.
  • Assist the accounting department with revenue and royalty analysis.
  • Track investor budgets and operating reports according to financing agreement requirements.
  • Reconcile annual Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) supply obligations with actual deliveries and if applicable negotiate with contracted parties and draft settlement agreements and estimate shortfall penalties.
  • Prepare operational summaries and compile data for annual review.
  • Prepare and update Power Purchase summaries and agreements.
  • Manage PPAs, continually monitoring updates and communicating across the business and creating reference documents.
  • Advising internal/external partners on business agreements that have significant financial impact and insuring strategic alignment of various business groups.
  • Manage roles and responsibilities of the Asset Management team to ensure goals are met and driving development of the team.
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis and data gathering.
  • Maintain working knowledge of GAPP practices, create and apply internal controls to meet SOX requirements.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings when required.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • A Bachelor’s of Science in Economics, Finance, or Accounting required, a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5 years’ related experience including supervision.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret legal agreements in order to communicate to other stakeholders.
  • Must have excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Must have strategic management, good judgment and decision making skills.
  • Must be results and detail oriented with the ability to focus on short term and long term results.
  • Must have good management and leadership skills.
  • Must be self-directed with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, Power Point and use of the internet.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.

 

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to work at a computer, and computer monitor, and use repetitive motion for long periods of time.
  • The ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • This position requires sitting 80% of the time and standing and walking 20% of the time.
